Profitable (IRE) was a champion racehorse born in 2012, known for his incredible speed and stamina. He was bred in Ireland by the famous Moyglare Stud Farm, and was trained throughout his career by Clive Cox.
Profitable’s racing career spanned four years, during which he competed in some of the most prestigious flat races in the world. He made his debut as a two-year-old in 2014, winning a maiden race at Bath Racecourse. His impressive victory caught the attention of many racing enthusiasts, and he quickly became a horse to watch.
The following year, Profitable competed in several Group races, finishing in the top three in each of them. He then won his first Group 1 race, the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, in 2016. This was a significant moment for the horse, as the King’s Stand Stakes is one of the most prestigious sprint races in the world.
In the same year, Profitable went on to win another Group 1 race, the Nunthorpe Stakes at York Racecourse. He also finished second in the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp in France, solidifying his reputation as one of the best sprinters in the world.
In total, Profitable won eight of his 23 starts and amassed over £1.2 million in prize money throughout his career. He was known for his incredible speed and stamina, which made him a formidable opponent on the track.
Profitable’s impressive racing career was not only due to his own natural ability, but also because of his strong ancestry. He was sired by Invincible Spirit, a stallion who has produced many successful racehorses throughout his career. His dam was a mare named Dani Ridge, who was herself a winner of several races during her career.
Since retiring from racing in 2017, Profitable has become a successful stallion in his own right. He has sired several successful racehorses, including the Group 2-winning sprinter, Starman. His progeny have inherited his natural speed and athleticism, making them popular choices for breeders and racing enthusiasts alike.
Profitable has proven to be one of Europe’s most promising speed stallions, establishing himself as a top performer in his second season as a sire. He made waves as a first-season sire sensation, and his success continues to impress breeders and racing enthusiasts alike.
In 2022, Profitable was the only stallion to sire more than one three-year-old sprint Group winner in Europe. Both Miramar and Mitbaahy triumphed in the Prix Sigy and World Trophy, respectively, earning the title of two, among ten, Black Type performers that have arisen from Profitable’s progeny. The stallion boasts 21 three-year-old winners at 1,250m or less, second only to Kodiac.
Profitable’s second crop is also showing tremendous potential. Wed, a G2 winner, leads the pack, and sprinters Batal Dubai and Kerdos show great promise, with ratings of 95 and 90p, respectively, by Timeform.
His success on the racecourse, in the ring, and with his progeny suggests that Profitable will continue to climb the ranks and become one of the most prominent speed sires in the industry. We hope that he’s passed on some of his talent to Northerner.
