Grid Iron Maiden Shares

Bay Filly (April 12th 2021)

Sire: Sogann (FR) by Frankel | Dam: Next Stop (GB) 2011

Grid Iron Maiden is a granddaughter of Frankel.

She is one of the first crop from Sogann, a €550,000 yearling by the exceptional Frankel.

Sogann was unraced and is a half-brother to Dabirsim, who was also sired by Frankel and won the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Cup in 2020. Sogann was foaled in 2017 and bought by Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz. He was in training with trainer John Gosden in Newmarket, but due to injury, never made it to the racecourse.

Grid Iron Maiden was bought as a yearling in November 2022 from Norton Grove Stud in North Yorkshire. She has inherited a strong genetic heritage for speed, stamina, and athleticism, which could make her a promising prospect. However, as with all racehorses, success on the track is never guaranteed, and it remains to be seen whether she will live up to her potential.

Grid Iron Maiden completed her novice career this season and has been given a competitive handicap mark for us to build on. She is suited by around 7f furlongs and has achieved some very respectable sectional times despite being treated gently during her introduction to racing. We expect her to compete again early in 2024 after her Christmas break.

“It’s all about the horses, keeping them healthy and happy. If they’re happy they’ll win races, and that’s what it’s all about.

Every winner is as important as the next. It’s what racing is all about, training winners. And we love every minute of it!”
