Grid Iron Maiden is a granddaughter of Frankel.

She is one of the first crop from Sogann, a €550,000 yearling by the exceptional Frankel.

Sogann was unraced and is a half-brother to Dabirsim, who was also sired by Frankel and won the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Cup in 2020. Sogann was foaled in 2017 and bought by Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz. He was in training with trainer John Gosden in Newmarket, but due to injury, never made it to the racecourse.

Grid Iron Maiden was bought as a yearling in November 2022 from Norton Grove Stud in North Yorkshire. She has inherited a strong genetic heritage for speed, stamina, and athleticism, which could make her a promising prospect. However, as with all racehorses, success on the track is never guaranteed, and it remains to be seen whether she will live up to her potential.

Grid Iron Maiden completed her novice career this season and has been given a competitive handicap mark for us to build on. She is suited by around 7f furlongs and has achieved some very respectable sectional times despite being treated gently during her introduction to racing. We expect her to compete again early in 2024 after her Christmas break.

Introducing Northerner: The Unraced 2 yo with Great Potential!

Northerner is a stunning 2-year-old filly with a promising future in the world of racing. Her breeding is impressive, as her sire, Profitable, is a new leading source of speed in the industry. Profitable was a top-class sprinter and winner of the group 1 King's Stand Stakes at the age of 4. At 5, he was the runner-up in the same race. Notably, he is the only stallion with multiple sprinting group 1 winners from his 2022 three-year-olds.

Northerner's dam, Beauty Pageant, was no slouch either. She won five races and was placed 14 times on the flat. Beauty Pageant has had six foals, of which five have raced and two have won. With such a strong bloodline, it's no wonder Northerner is expected to perform well on the track.

But Northerner's potential goes beyond her breeding. She has a beautiful conformation, making her an impressive sight on the training track. Her athletic build suggests that she'll make a great 5-6f horse, capable of holding her own against the best.

Northerner's racing debut was at Wetherby, on 13th June, where she produced a magnificent late run after not getting the easiest of passages. She showed her ability, coming second at 20/1.
